Special needs player wows crowd

The power of sport can never be denied and here’s another example.

During a recent high school basketball match in the US something special happened.

The Norman High Lady Tigers from Oklahoma were heading for victory against their cross-town rivals in the biggest game of the season.

Because the game had already been won it was a perfect situation for the Tigers crowd favourite to get into the game.

Lainy Fredrickson, a special needs student, was suited up for the occasion and made her way onto the court with sections of the crowd chanting "Lainy, Lainy, Lainy.

Fredickson was given an opportunity to score a basket and while she may have taken a while to nail the shot, the crowd went bananas when she did.

The video of the shot has gone viral with over a million views on social media.
