David Warner makes hay after no-ball gives him a second chance at MCG

Pakistan paceman Wahab Riaz learned a hard lesson about his front foot during day three of the Boxing Day Test against Australia at the MCG.

Bruising Australian opener David Warner was the lucky recipient of Wahab’s no-ball errors, and he went on to make the tourists pay.

Wahab ended up getting his man, but by that stage Warner had reached 144. The brilliant innings lifted Australia to 2-244 in pursuit of Pakistan’s impressive first innings of 9-443.

But is shouldn’t have taken that long.

Wahab delivered a superb full-length delivery which clean bowled Warner when he was on 81 – only to be correctly called for a no-ball.

Wahab was in the midst of a worrying spell of bowling no-balls when he cleaned up Warner. He ended the day with 10 no-balls against his name.

Luckily for Wahab, and more importantly his team, the big pacemen responded well later in the day.

He eventually got the left-hander’s wicket – but only after a review found the ball flicked Warner’s glove on the way to keeper Safraz Ahmed.

Even the wicket-taking ball was close to being another no-ball.

If that had been the case, Wahab and Pakistan would have been left wondering what they had done to deserve such misfortune.
