Wade passed fit to continue SCG Test

Matthew Wade has passed a follow-up concussion check and will be free to resume play in the third Test against New Zealand at the SCG.

The Australian batsman was struck on the helmet by a Tom Latham pull shot, off the bowling of Marnus Labuschagne, while fielding in close on Saturday evening.

Wade passed an initial concussion test after play, before getting through a secondary check on Sunday morning.

Concussion laws, and the ability to have players substituted by replacements, were brought in by the ICC last year.

Australia were the first team to use the rules, with Labuschagne coming in for Steve Smith in the Lord's Ashes Test and kick-starting his run-scoring spree.

Given a like-for-like replace is required, Australia would have needed to call a batsman in to replace Wade had he been ruled out.
