Rain halts Qld Shield fightback v Victoria
Rain has washed out almost half a day's play at Allan Border Field in Brisbane, halting Queensland's momentum in their must-win final-round Sheffield Shield match against Victoria.
The home side fought back during the middle session and, when play was halted for the final time just after tea, Victoria were seven runs in arrears at 6-201.
It could have been much worse for the Bulls, with Victoria looking comfortable at 2-165 on the back of a 100-run partnership between Rob Quiney and Aaron Finch.
Paceman Michael Neser (3-60) made a double breakthrough to dismiss Finch, who scored a typically breezy 52, and Bushrangers' captain Cameron White (2).
Medium-pacer Jack Wildermuth (2-30) chipped in with the wicket of top-scorer Quiney (57), having earlier picked up opener Marcus Harris (49).
Ill-disciplined batting meant Queensland made just 208 on Thursday on a rain-affected day one.
Queensland require a win to have any hope of featuring in next week's Shield final, while Victoria - having already secured their spot in the decider - need only to avoid defeat to guarantee hosting rights.
