Ashes 2017-18: Channel Nine reveals commentary team for summer of cricket
Channel Nine’s signature coverage of this summer’s Ashes series promises to give viewers a unique insight into cricket’s most famous rivalry, with an array of cricket’s greats on deck to offer their analysis and opinions as Australia and England battle to claim The Urn.
Legendary commentator Bill Lawry will headline the team for Melbourne’s Boxing Day Test and Sydney’s New Year’s Day Test in what will be his 40th year in commentary box for Wide World of Sports.
Joining Lawry for Nine’s summer of cricket will be Australian cricket favourites Ian Healy, Michael Slater, Mark Taylor, Ian Chappell, Michael Clarke and Shane Warne.
While former England skipper Michael Vaughan and former batsman Kevin Pietersen will join the team, along with Mark Nicholas who returns as host.
Following the Ashes, Nine’s coverage of the cricket season will continue in 2018, with the One Day International Series between Australia and England and will conclude when New Zealand joins both sides for the Trans-Tasman Tri-Series.
Michael Clarke
The former Aussie cricket captain has played 115 Tests for Australia and has scored 8,643 runs with a batting average 49.10.
Mark Taylor
Australia’s iconic captain of the 90’s, ‘Tubby’ has taken the field for his country 104 times in the Test arena scoring 7525 runs with a batting average of 43.49.
Kevin Pietersen
Pietersen has played 104 Tests for England scoring 8,101 runs with a batting average of 47.28
Michael Vaughan
The former England captain has played 82 Tests for his country scoring 5,719 runs with a batting average of 41.44
