Suspicious item found at home of Haddin: reports

Police are investigating after a suspicious item was reportedly found on a nature strip outside the Sydney home of Australian cricketer Brad Haddin.

A NSW police spokeswoman confirmed officers were called to a home on Champion Road in Tennyson Point at around 3.15pm yesterday.

The suspicious item was removed from the scene and is being forensically examined.The spokeswoman said the police investigations was ongoing.

The ABC reports the item is believed to be an improvised explosive device and was found outside Haddin’s home.

Haddin withdrew from the Second Test at Lord’s for family reasons and was replaced by debutant Peter Nevill.

Haddin and wife Karina’s daughter Mia was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer as a young girl in 2012, which prompted the wicketkeeper to take an extended break from the game.
