Sri Lanka paceman Lasith Malinga retires from all cricket
Fast bowler Lasith Malinga, who captained Sri Lanka to its 2014 T20 World Cup victory, retired from playing cricket on Tuesday.

“Hanging up my T20 shoes and retiring from all forms of cricket!" he wrote on Twitter. "... looking forward to sharing my experience with young cricketers in the years to come."

The announcement by 38-year-old Malinga came days after he missed out on being picked for a sixth T20 World Cup, though he had not played for his country in 18 months.
Malinga had long retired from test cricket, and quit one-day internationals in 2019.
He retires with the most wickets in T20s, 107 from 84 matches, though that will be surpassed soon by Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh, who was one wicket behind.

The shaggy-haired Malinga helped Sri Lanka reach the T20 World Cup finals in 2009 and 2012, but the highlight was winning in 2014, beating India in the final in Dhaka. He was made captain midway through the event.
He also was a major contributor to Sri Lanka reaching the Cricket World Cup finals in 2007 and 2011.
