South Africa's fury over a ball-tampering charge has seemingly bubbled over at Adelaide Airport, where a scuffle with security ended with a 9NEWS reporter being shoved into a glass door.

Zunaid Wadee, who oversees the Proteas' security, clashed with 9NEWS reporter Will Crouch while he was trying to interview cricketer Faf du Plessis about the ball-tampering controversy.

During the scuffle a microphone was knocked from Crouch's hands.

Du Plessis, who is facing a one-Test ban, is yet to speak since being charged by the International Cricket Council after allegedly using a lolly to induce swing in the second Test against Australia.

His hearing will not take place until legal representative arrives from South Africa.

It appears unlikely that they will arrive before the third Test starts at Adelaide Oval on Thursday.

A similar incident occurred on Saturday, when 9NEWS reporter Corey Norris pressed Du Plessis.

Norris approached Du Plessis but was confronted by Mr Wadee.

The fiery exchange was captured on a GoPro, which shows the team’s security official attempting to stop Norris from approaching Du Plessis by placing his arm against the journalist’s neck.
