AUSTRALIA V PAKISTAN, 2ND TEST AT A GLANCE

STATE OF PLAY - Australia (145 and 1-47) trailing Pakistan (282 and 9d-400) by 491 runs at stumps on day three at Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

MAN OF THE DAY - Babar Azam. The Pakistan young gun fell agonisingly short of his maiden Test century when he was trapped lbw by Mitch Marsh on 99. But he can take plenty of pride from what was a superb attacking knock after a second-ball duck in the first innings.

KEY STAT - Nathan Lyon reached an astonishing milestone during Pakistan's innings, surpassing 20,000 Test deliveries without ever having bowled a front foot no-ball.

KEY MOMENT - Azhar Ali was bizarrely run out on 64 while convening mid-pitch with Asad Shafiq. Azhar's edge flew past gully but stopped short of the boundary and Mitchell Starc retrieved the ball to wicketkeeper Tim Paine, who removed the bails with an oblivious Azhar well short of his crease.

BEST QUOTE - "They're going to speak about it for years. Whenever I say something to them they are going to come back to me about this run out." - Azhar expects his young sons to provide plenty of feedback about his brain fade.
