Smith slips to fourth on batting rankings

Steve Smith has relinquished top spot on the International Cricket Council's Test batting rankings.

Smith topped the ICC charts alongside Joe Root prior to Australia's first Test against West Indies.

A score of 10 from the skipper in Hobart failed to derail his side's march to a crushing victory.

However, it did result in Smith sliding three spots to fourth on the ICC's rankings.

England star Root now holds the No.1 ranking by himself, with South African AB de Villiers second and New Zealand's golden boy Kane Williamson third.

David Warner is fifth, but 23 ranking points is all that separates the top five batsmen.

Adam Voges' unbeaten 269 against the West Indies meant he soared 19 spots to a career-high 15th place.

Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood climbed four spots to break into the top 10 of the Test bowler rankings.

Hazlewood, who claimed seven wickets in Hobart, is Australia's highest ranked bowler at No.7.
