Scorchers look forward to WACA

For international signing Michael Carberry it's a home away from home, but even the batting Briton in the Perth Scorchers squad is keen to get back to the WACA.

Speaking after their one-run Big Bash League victory to Hobart Hurricanes at Bellerive Oval on Sunday in which Carberry (62) played a crucial role, the batsman said the team has endured a tough stretch of travelling.

"We've been away for three games on the road this week, so, to only lose one of them, I think that's a great achievement," he said.

"It's not easy to go away and win."

After missing selection for the past three matches following poor form early in the tournament, Carberry was recalled for Sunday's clash in the southern capital and top-scored, helping the Scorchers reach 5-173.

"I've done all I can do to get us over the line, get us a good score ... and it proved to just be enough," he said.

In the absence of Shaun Marsh and Joel Paris, who have both entered the Australian one-day camp, Carberry is likely to be named in the XI when Perth meet Melbourne Stars at the WACA on Saturday.

Skipper Adam Voges, who has just returned from Test duties, will be looking for a better performance than Sunday's contribution of two runs.

Ashton Agar (2-38) was the pick of the side's bowlers, while David Willey was economical, finishing with 1-23 off his four overs.

With five wins from seven rounds, Scorchers are equal top of the BBL ladder, having assured themselves of a finals berth and strong chance to host a semi as they eye a third successive BBL title.
