Peever attacked by outgoing CA director

David Peever has been attacked over his "substandard" performance as Cricket Australia chair by an outgoing director.

Bob Every stood down as CA director in May, but not before taking aim at Peever over his handling of a pay dispute with cricketers, the succession process to replace chief executive James Sutherland, and broadcasting negotiations when he labelled the Ten Network "bottom feeders".

Peever later offered to resign over the comments - a move rejected by the board.

"The list is long but in my opinion his handling of the MOU, the media negotiations, his 'fake' resignation and particularly his handling of succession planning for the CEO leave a lot to be desired,'' Every said in an email obtained by News Corp.

Cricket Australia chairman David Peever said they were focusing on the future rather than the past.

"Bob made a valuable contribution to the game as a Cricket Australia Director for two and a half years. I have nothing but the utmost respect for him and respect for the decisions on which he chose to resign from his position.

"Navigating through the issues that we have encountered as a sport throughout the past 18 months is not an easy task, and in doing so, I have always placed the game, particularly at a community level, first.

"Many of these issues are very public, and we don't shy away from that, but they can be easily misinterpreted without context.

"Rather than focusing on the past, we are looking to the future and how we can improve. The reviews in place demonstrate our full commitment to this."
