Paris celebrates Aussie call-up with freak catch

Joel Paris has celebrated his call-up to Australia's ODI squad by snaring a stunning juggling catch in the Big Bash League.

Paris, who plays for Perth Scorchers, was fielding at mid-on against Adelaide last night when Strikers opener Tim Ludeman skied a ball that forced the Scorchers bowler to scurry backwards.

Paris comfortably got to the drop of the ball, but appeared set to squander the chance after fumbling his first attempt at the catch.

But showing cat-like reflexes, the towering paceman instead somehow managed to snatch it out of the air as he fell backwards, completing a spectacular juggling catch that looked more like a circus act.

While the Strikers went on to win the match comfortably, Paris' effort was a highlight and may very wellbe a pre-cursor to his debut for Australia in their one-day series against India.
