NSW rolls out crazy deck, Weatherald concussed in bizarre Shield start
Jake Weatherald had to be substituted out of South Australia’s Sheffield Shield match on day two after he was concussed from hitting the fence while trying to save a boundary.
One day one of the match against Victoria, the former Aussie Test opener ran to the boundary rope in an unsuccessful attempt to stop an Ollie Peake four.

Weatherald then slid straight into the advertising board on the fence and smashed his head.
Originally, he gave the thumbs up that he was OK, and batted later in the day but was dismissed for a duck.
He was later withdrawn with delayed concussion symptoms and replaced by former NSW wicket-keeper Matthew Gilkes.
20-year-old Harry Hoekstra was the man who dismissed Weatherald, taking 4-57 on his first class debut.
Victoria had been bowled out for 244 on day one and South Australia has a 108-run lead in response with Jake Lehmann hitting 90 and Henry Hunt contributing 71 at the top of the order. Ben Manenti is on 92 not out at stumps.
Cricket Central’s green seamer
Tasmania and NSW arrived at Cricket Central to a pitch that didn’t look too different to the outfield.
WA-product Bryce Jackson reaped the rewards early, nicking off Jordan Silk for 5 to take his maiden first class wicket.
Tassie’s innings didn’t turn out too disastrous despite the pitch conditions, finishing day one at 9-241.
Caleb Jewell (50) and Ben McDermott (77) kept the bowlers busy with Jackson claiming 3-36.
Jake Scott took 4-35 for NSW which included the wickets of Jewell, Jake Doran (0), Will Prestwidge (12) and Caelan Maladay (17).
Jack Edwards, fresh off his ODI appearances in South Africa, couldn’t take a wicket while Sean Abbott had one scalp.

Potential Lyon heir returns from India
Corey Rocchiccioli made his first appearance back home at the WACA after touring with Australia A in India.
The off-spinner is part of a promising cohort of bowlers vying to one day replace Nathan Lyon as a Test bowler. That list includes Todd Murphy and Matt Kuhnemann too.
At the WACA, Western Australia won the toss and elected to field with Queensland looking shaky at 3-51 following two wickets to Kieran Elliott and one for Joel Paris.
Lachlan Hearne and Jack Clayton combined for 67 runs before Rocchiccioli had his first scalp when Hearne (33) was caught at cover by Sam Fanning.
Clayton (82) became the off-spinner’s second wicket when he was caught by Cameron Bancroft at slip.
Hayden Kerr was next to go for 17, given out lbw off Albert Esterhuysen’s bowling before rain stopped play with Queensland 6-250. Jimmy Pierson was the not out batter on 63.
Play returned for a short period at the WACA with Pierson moving to 65 and Xavier Bartlett adding six runs before they were called off again due to bad light.
