'Learnt nothing from Jonny Bairstow': Batter Tom Curran slammed after controversial run out

It's Jonny Bairstow all over again.
A controversial run-out has sent the ITL20 in Abu Dhabi into a frenzy, with another English batter, Tom Curran, leaving his crease before the ball was deemed dead.
Curran, who had just returned from his time in Australia playing for the Melbourne Stars in the BBL, was batting for the Gulf Giants when the incident occurred.

The batter walked out of his crease after running a single, before MI Emirates's wicketkeeper Nicholas Pooran received the ball from Kieron Pollard's throw.
Pooran, who is MI Emirates skipper, then proceeded to dislodge the bails with the ball, celebrating the wicket of Curran, who wasn't in his crease.

The captain appealed the non-decision immediately, with a lengthy chat ensuing with on field umpires.
After minutes of discussion, the third umpire stepped in and made the officially ruling.
Curran was given out.
But the saga didn't end there.

Curran's coach and former England boss, Andy Flower, forced the batter to head back out to the crease, despite the decision being made against them.
Curran was then called back, nearly four minutes after the original incident occurred.
The Gulf Giants needed 17 off 12 to take the win, but Curran wasn't there to see the end of the match, dismissed, this time without a reprieve, just three balls later for 16.
Curran's side did get the win in the end, despite the distraction, taking victory by two wicktes in a match that went down to the final ball.

The incident promptly sent social media into meltdown.
Cricket journalist Peter Lalor was quick to liken Curran's antics to those of Bairstow during the second Test of the 2023 Ashes series at Lord's.
Bairstow was dismissed by Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey, after being out of his crease before the ball was dead in the 52nd over on day five of that Lord's Test.

Other fans were quick to jump on to make their thoughts known.
"Why is it always the English who can't seem to follow the rules that were made by them?," one user wrote.
"What's with English players and not just staying in their crease? It's a pretty simple concept," another added.
