Brendon McCullum turns to ex-teammate Tim Southee for coaching role ahead of five-Test India series
England coach Brendon McCullum has turned to one of his former teammates, Tim Southee, as he prepares to face an Indian side without Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma.
Southee retired from international cricket in December and will now be a specialist skills consultant for England.
The role is only short-term and lasts until the end of England's Test series against India. The fifth Test is schedule to end on August 4.

"With his vast experience of playing in a wide range of conditions around the world and across all formats, he brings valuable insight and knowledge to the players," a statement from the ECB read.

Southee will resume his duties in The Hundred after the stint, playing for Birmingham Phoenix.
Ironically, England's last Test match was a loss to Southee in his final match.
The Black Caps won that match by 423 runs with Southee taking two wickets.
Despite that disappointment, England won the series 2-1.
