Caleb Jewell hits Shield ton after Tasmania's surprise call to open with Matt Kuhnemann
Tasmania opener Caleb Jewell has made himself the main highlight from the weekend's Sheffield Shield action, hitting a century against NSW after the Blues declared on day two.
NSW finished 9-391 with Kurtis Patterson top scoring on 80 while Sam Konstas hit 43. Riley Meredith was the best with the ball, taking 3-77.
Jewell then walked out with an unexpected opening partner in left-arm spinner Matt Kuhnemann.

Kuhnemann was solid in his new role, scoring 21 before he was strangled down the legside, caught behind off Liam Hatcher.
Jewell pushed ahead and reached his century to ensure there was no top-order collapse.

The opener couldn't go on with it, but nicking off-spinner Ollie Davies to first slip and walking off for 102.
In Western Australia's clash with South Australia, Cameron Bancroft failed at the top of the order, scoring only 9.
Queensland opener Matt Renshaw kept Australian selectors on notice in the other Shield match, scoring a his own century.
The other match of note going on in the country is at Lilac Hill between the Cricket Australia XI and England Lions.

However, he missed his opportunity, scoring 44 at No.3.
Fellow England hopeful Will Jacks only made a start too, finishing with 30.
