'Highly respected' Josh Inglis unveiled as Australia's T20 skipper ahead of Pakistan series

Josh Inglis has been confirmed as Australia's captain for the upcoming T20 series against Pakistan, with a host of Test stars unavailable.

The 29-year-old, who has been in strong form in Sheffield Shield recently and was knocking on the door for a baggy green, will lead the side in the white-ball format.

Inglis will also captain the ODI side in the final game of the series, with skipper Pat Cummins set to miss the clash in preparation for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The decision will see Inglis lead a squad that features some of the best young talent in the country including Jake Fraser-McGurk, Cooper Connolly and Xavier Bartlett.

"Josh is an integral member of the ODI and T20I teams and a highly respected player on and off the field," George Bailey said in a statement.

"He has led Australia A previously and will bring strong tactical nous and a positive approach to the role.

"Josh will receive great support from the likes of Matt Short and Adam Zampa, along with senior players including Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis."

The first T20 game against Pakistan is scheduled for November 14, with the one-day series to conclude on November 10.
