Jhye Richardson suffers 'bizarre' injury scare in Sheffield Shield clash

Australian bowler Jhye Richardson has suffered yet another injury scare - but this time it came in "bizarre" circumstances during a Sheffield Shield game.

The 28-year-old, who missed the first four games of the season due to a hamstring issue, was looking in red-hot form early in Western Australia's clash with the Redbacks.

Richardson took the wickets of Conor McInerney and Daniel Drew in back-to-back deliveries, putting himself on a hat-trick against South Australia.

However, when celebrating his second wicket, Richardson raced through a group of teammates and an errant high-five saw the bowler clutch at his shoulder immediately.

Richardson was helped from the field by WA medical staff in a scary moment, especially given his extensive history of injuries over the years.

In a major sigh of relief, the right-arm seamer returned to the field of play 30 minutes later and took another wicket, this time snicking off Thomas Kelly.

Richardson has played three Test matches for Australia and another 33 games in the shorter formats, but hasn't worn the green and gold for two years.

WA finished all-out 373 in the first innings as Jayden Goodwin scored a century, with the Redbacks four wickets down in reply after Richardson's early burst.
