Melbourne Stars veteran Marcus Stoinis opens up on 'traumatic' Sam Harper head injury
Melbourne Stars veteran Marcus Stoinis has recounted the "traumatic" moment teammate and wicketkeeper Sam Harper was struck in the head by a ball at training last week.
Harper – who has a history of concussion – was rushed to hospital in an ambulance after he was struck on the chin during a net session before the Stars' BBL clash against the Sydney Sixers at the MCG last Saturday night.
Stoinis, who was there when the incident occurred, said the team was still coming to terms with the scary situation, as Harper returns home and begins his rehabilitation.

"It was quite a mix. It brought up a lot of emotions for different people who had been through different things," Stoinis told media in Melbourne on Thursday.
"It was quite a traumatic sort of afternoon. It's ended up in its best possible situation."

Stoinis said the playing group had been receiving support.
"The boys have spoken about it, we've had some people to come in and speak to the group as well, which has been good," he said.
"The support has been great ... but everyone is going through their own thing at the moment."
Despite being cleared of any serious damage including any fractures or soft tissue injuries, Harper is yet to return to the Stars training.
"Harps hasn't been and joined the group since the incident, but he is tracking quite well," Stoinis said.
Stoinis said Harper was home and already "in the gym" as part of his rehab.
"He is home, he got out of the hospital a day and a half or so after what happened and he started his concussion rehab as well," Stoinis said.

"He was in the gym apparently just the other day ... just to get things going.
"Touch wood, I think things are going the right way."
The Stars will need to win at least one of their final two BBL matches to keep their finals hopes alive.
They face home town rivals, the Melbourne Renegades on Saturday night at Marvel Stadium.
