To rub salt into the wound, Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq has been fined 40 per cent of his match fee for his side having a slow over rate in the dramatic Boxing Day Test loss to Australia.

The tourists, who collapsed on the final day to hand Australia an improbable win, were ruled to be two overs short of the required target by match referee Ranjan Madugalle.

While Misbah, who admitted after the match he was considering retirement, lost almost half his match fee, his teammates have received 20 per cent fines.

Players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.
