Captain Mitch Marsh has laid the platform as Australia A posted 6-290 at stumps on day one of their second four-day match against India A.

The Australians made three changes for the match in Alur from the XI that won their opening tour match by 98 runs last week in Bengaluru - with opener Matthew Renshaw and spinners Ashton Agar and Mitch Swepson getting an opportunity.

Marsh won the toss on Saturday and elected to bat but Renshaw failed to get off the mark and was dismissed for a duck.

Kurtis Patterson (48) and Travis Head (68) then combined for a 92-run stand.

Patterson and Peter Handscomb (eight) fell before the lunch break in an extended first session, followed by Head and Labuschagne (0) on the other side of the break as Australia stumbled from 1-95 to 5-140.

Agar then contributed 23, before Marsh (86 not out) combined with Michael Neser (44 not out) for an unbroken 110-stand.

Spinners Kuldeep Yadav (2-68) and Shahbaz Nadeem (2-64) claimed multiple wickets for India A.
