Mark Waugh reveals his baggy green was consumed by a rat

Australian cricket great Mark Waugh revealed he was given a new baggy green after the famous cap he wore throughout his career was consumed by a rat.

Last week, Shane Warne stunned cricket fans when he auctioned off his baggy green for over $1 million with all proceeds going towards the bushfire appeal.

With the famous cap taking over the spotlight, Waugh revealed the baggy green he wore throughout his 128-Test match career was sabotaged by a mysterious rat.

Along with some money, Waugh admitted he kept his baggy green locked in a safe at home, declaring the rat "left the money alone and ate the cap."

"I had my baggy green in a safe on the ground and I opened the safe and a rat ate half of my baggy green cap," Waugh said on Fox cricket.

"I don't know [how], but he got in there and ate it."

"I actually had some money in there. It left the money alone and ate the cap."

Fortunately, the cricket legend was given a new one, but revealed he also kept what remains of his original baggy green.

"I got a new one… I'm pretty sure I kept [original baggy green] it."
