Khawaja's lean spell continues in Canberra

Usman Khawaja's summer of woe has continued after being dismissed for a duck against an inexperienced Sri Lankan bowling line-up in Canberra.

Australia's No.3 was sent packing after three balls as he edged a ball, where he didn't move his feet, straight to second slip.

Khawaja entered the sixth and final Test of the Australian summer with only one half-century under his belt, a 72 against India in Perth.

He averaged 28.28 during the 2-1 series loss to India, but after coming under some pressure following another failure in Brisbane, the latest dismissal will only give weight to his critics.

Khawaja's departure left Australia at 2-15 against a Sri Lankan fast-bowling unit that has a total of five Tests between them.
