Jurgensen named full-time NZ bowling coach

Australian Shane Jurgensen has been appointed the full-time Black Caps bowling coach for a second time.

The 40-year-old will fill the role until the 2019 World Cup in England, having held it on an interim basis since February after replacing Dimitri Mascarenhas.

Jurgensen was New Zealand's permanent bowling specialist from 2008-10 before taking up the same post in Bangladesh.

He was then promoted to Bangladesh head coach, overseeing a one-day international series win over New Zealand, before leaving for a role with Fijian cricket.

New Zealand coach Mike Hesson says he has been impressed by the "structure" introduced to the bowling unit by Jurgensen.

"His knowledge of all conditions and his overall experience has been evident during his time with us," Hesson said.

"Shane has a number of New Zealand connections and brings a lot of passion to the role."

Jurgensen was a promising domestic player in Australia, representing three states. His last game for Queensland was a decade ago.
