Johnson shows concern for first bouncer victim

A concerned Mitchell Johnson had to be pulled away by captain Michael Clarke after hitting Indian skipper Virat Kohli on the helmet with a fiery bouncer.

After dismissing Murali Vijay, Johnson delivered a bumper first ball to Kohli that struck the Indian captain flush on the badge.

Johnson immediately inquired about the health of Kohli before Clarke pulled the distressed paceman away as the rest of the Australian players checked on the Indian captain.

After checking his helmet but not replacing it, Kohli waved away the Australian players and umpires before getting right in behind the line as he defended the next delivery.

The exchange answers the question Johnson was asked by media before the Test about how he would react to hitting a batsman following the death of Phillip Hughes.

At the time, Johnson said he was not sure how he would react.

The bouncer had formed a key part in Johnson claiming his first wicket the delivery before hitting Kohli.

He forced Vijay back with a series of nasty short balls before dismissing the Indian opener for 53 with one that went across the batsman.

India are two for 119 at lunch on day three, with Cheteshwar Pujara unbeaten on 34 and Kohli on three not out.
