Jake Lehmann puts dad to shame with woeful throw

Powered by

The son of Australia’s cricket coach, Darren Lehmann, has put his family’s name to shame with a horrendous piece of fielding in the Big Bash.

Jake Lehmann was on debut for the Adelaide Strikers and was fielding at mid-off in their game against Perth on Tuesday night when Scorchers batsman Cameron Bancroft nudged a ball in his direction and took off for a quick single.

Bancroft’s batting partner, Michael Klinger, appeared slow out of the blocks, giving the Strikers the chance of a run-out if only Lehmann was up to the task.

How he failed. Miserably.

Whilst the youngster was quick to pounce on the ball, his throw from close range was metres off target and, despite the best efforts of his scrambling teammates, rocketed to the boundary for four overthrows.

His teammates didn’t appear overly impressed and one can only imagine what his dad would have thought.

Lehmann did redeem himself somewhat with a brilliant diving effort to remove Scorchers tailender Andrew Tye later in the match as the Strikers cruised to a comfortable 36-run victory.
