Australia win women's ODI series v India

A solid six-wicket victory over India has handed Australia the women's one-day international series over India.

A cracking 77 from opener Nicole Bolton, including a 138-run partnership with skipper Meg Lanning (61), allowed the Southern Stars reach 4-253 with more than three overs to spare on Friday at Bellerive Oval.

Bolton top-scored for Australia reaching her half-century from 49 balls and belting 10 boundaries before being trapped lbw by Shikha Pandey (2-50).

Lanning was earlier sent back to the sheds, caught behind, but the captain seemed to question whether she had made contact with the ball.

The openers set a solid base for Ellyse Perry scoring 31 and Alex Blackwell making 19. Jessica Jonassen was 29 not out and Alyssa Healy was also unbeaten on 29.

Indian spinner Rajeshwari Gaekawad (2-42) and Pandey did the damage for the visitors.

Following Tuesday's 101-run win in Canberra, Australia have claimed an unassailable two-nil lead in the three-match series and confirmed their place atop the ICC women's championship rankings ahead of their New Zealand tour later this month.

Earlier on Friday, India won the toss and chose to bat, racing to an impressive 1-150 thanks largely to opener Smriti Mandhana's 102 - her maiden ODI century.

But when the partnership of Mandhana and skipper Mithali Raj (58) was broken, India's line-up quickly tumbled and the tourists ended their 50 overs at 8-252.

Perry with 3-54 was the pick of Australia's bowlers and Megan Schutt chipped in with 2-35.
