How Test squad members fared in ODIs

Six members of Australia's Test squad for India were also involved in the recently-completed ODI tour of New Zealand. How did they fare?

PETER HANDSCOMB (4 catches, 7 runs at 3.5)

Admitted to being "rusty" when handed the gloves at short notice in Auckland, where Matthew Wade failed a fitness test shortly before the toss. Better glovework in Hamilton but recorded first duck of international career.

SHAUN MARSH (38 runs at 19)

Was part of a batting collapse of 6-58 and dropped a slips catch in Auckland. Stroked four boundaries in the space of five deliveries in Hamilton then ran himself out.

GLENN MAXWELL (20 runs at 10, did not bowl)

A poor series from the second-most experienced player in the understrength squad. Was out for a duck to left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner in Hamilton.

MITCHELL STARC (4 wickets at 30.50)

Finished as Australia's leading wicket-taker in the series alongside James Faulkner. Handy unbeaten knock of 29 in Hamilton was a reminder of his clean striking.

JOSH HAZLEWOOD (3 wickets at 30.66)

Attacked more than he is used to but still finished Australia's most economical bowler with the exception of part-timer Travis Head. Was memorably run out without facing a ball in Auckland, the final wicket to fall in a six-run loss.

MATTHEW WADE (did not play)

Named Australia's 24th ODI captain in the absence of Steve Smith and David Warner but was unable to lead the team because of a back injury.
