As far as chances to mock the opposition captain in his own country go, Australian Test centurion Glenn Maxwell picked as good a time as any.

Maxwell’ decision to feign an injury similar to the one suffered by India captain Virat Kohli on the opening day of the third Test against Australia as Ranchi has re-ignited the bad blood between the teams.

After leaving the field during Australia’s impressive first innings total of 451, Kohli didn’t re-appear until it was his turn to bat.

That time on the field didn’t last long either, with Kohli out for just 6 and India reached 6-360. They are still 91-runs short of Australia’s tally.

But it was Maxwell’s decision to clutch at his shoulder after diving to save a boundary that had everyone talking.

Indian opener Murali Vijay warned the Australian’s to expect some form of revenge when they bat in the second innings.

"Lots of things are happening," Vijay said. "Whatever they are doing, we take it as sportingly.

"There's going to be a second innings, so if they can take it that way, it would be great."
