Ex-Aussie women's bowler Hunter retires

Former Southern Stars fast bowler Julie Hunter has announced her retirement from all forms of cricket, effective immediately.

Hunter, who had quit one-day cricket in October, made the call after the Hurricanes' 103-run WBBL semi-final defeat on Wednesday to the Sydney Sixers.

"I love the game and still get that nagging thought of "just one more?" she said.

"But I've reached the point where I can't give it everything so, for me, I can no longer give enough to keep going."

Hunter, 32, took 57 international wickets across all forms at an average of 21.08 - playing 24 ODIs and 32 T20s for Australia.

She was also part of Australia's winning World T20 sides in 2010, 2012 and 2014, claiming a five-wicket haul against the West Indies in the second of those campaigns.

She also took 13 wickets at an average of 16 in this summer's WBBL, before finishing with figures of 1-22 against the Sixers.
