KEY MOMENT: The failure of Australia skipper Tim Paine to review Nathan Lyon's lbw appeal against Burns when he was on 21 proved hugely expensive as England edged towards a first innings lead on a wearing pitch.
STAT OF THE DAY: Burns became the first England opener to score a century in the first match of a home Ashes series since Graham Gooch in 1993.
