England all-rounder Ben Stokes has received an official reprimand for using "obscene, offensive or insulting" language during the second day of the second Test against the West Indies.

The 26-year-old was found to have breached the International Cricket Council's code of conduct in the 101st over of West Indies' innings on Sunday, when Shai Hope edged him for a boundary.

The Durham left-hander's "inappropriate comment" at Headingley was clearly audible through the stump microphone and also heard by the match officials.

Stokes plead guilty to "using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during an international match" and one demerit point has been added to his disciplinary record.

He is now on three demerit points and if he reaches four or more within a 24-month period, they will be converted into suspension points and he will be banned.
