Doherty not focused on national selection

Spin bowler Xavier Doherty has fallen off the radar of national selectors and the Tasmanian is not rushing to again raise their interest.

The 33-year-old, who in 2011 headlined Australia's one-day attack with a man-of-the-match 4-28 performance against Sri Lanka, hasn't made the grade since early 2015 and later the same year failed to be picked for his state Sheffield Shield side, since admitting he lost passion for the game.

But the left-armer, who has been picked to captain Tassie's pre-season tour, says he's back to full fitness and looking forward to at least another couple of years of professional sport.

However, that involvement will not necessarily include representing Australia.

"It's probably not at the forefront of my mind but somewhere down the track, who knows," Doherty said on Thursday.

The Tigers head to the Sunshine Coast this weekend.
