Dodgy knee sidelines Faulkner in Shield

Australian one-day allrounder James Faulkner has been ruled out of the final Sheffield Shield round of the season due to injury.

Bottom-of-the-table Tasmania released its squad to take on South Australia in the match starting in Hobart on Thursday, with Faulkner a notable omission due to a recurring knee complaint.

"Faulkner has been ruled out of the squad due to knee soreness and will focus on some rest and recovery to ensure any long-term damage is prevented," the Cricket Tasmania statement said.
