David Warner sets WACA record

David Warner has missed out on a century but lifted his remarkable Test record at the WACA to a record-breaking level.

Warner fell for 97 shortly after the morning drinks break on day two of the first Test between Australia and South Africa.

It was the first time the belligerent opener had been dismissed in the 90s in a 55-Test career.

It also meant the 30-year-old's batting average at the WACA fell to 96.

But Warner, who scored 70 runs through boundaries, brought up a milestone during the dig.

Warner has scored 762 Test runs at the ground - a better haul than any other opener in the history of the sport.

That includes Matthew Hayden, whose knock of 380 against Zimbabwe at the WACA in 2003 remains an Australian record.
