Cricket: Windies review worth a fine: Taylor

Former Australian skipper Mark Taylor has called for the West Indies to be fined after blasting the visitors for reviewing a wicket in the Boxing Day Test.

Opener Rajendra Chandrika was given out leg-before-wicket in the final session of day two at the MCG when he failed to offer a shot to a ball that swung into his pads off the bowling of James Pattinson.

But to the incredulity of the commentary team, Chandrika immediately asked for a review, seeming to believe he would be saved by the ball pitching outside off stump.

However, third umpire Chris Gaffaney quickly went through the process and confirmed the 26-year-old's fate.

Taylor said the waste of a review should be called to the attention of match referee Chris Broad.

"I'm not sure what Chandrika was thinking," Taylor said.

"That is out every day of the week.

"And it's almost worth a fine it's that bad."
