Cricket NSW director quits after ban

Cricket NSW board member Danny Bhandari has resigned after being suspended for an on-field altercation.

Bhandari last week was banned for two games after being found guilty of avoidable contact by the Sydney Cricket Association Judiciary Committee.

He was reported by umpires following a second-grade game in which it's understood the University of NSW player hit Manly-Warringah fast bowler Tom Kaye following his dismissal for a duck.

Bhandari pleaded not guilty but was found to have made "avoidable hand contact to the head" to an opponent, Cricket NSW said last week.

Cricket NSW chairman John Warn said on Monday Bhandari had resigned from the board.

"Cricket NSW board members have a responsibility to uphold the highest values of the game and Danny recognises he failed to do that in this instance," Warn said in a statement.
