There was an eyebrow-raising highlight during the Governor General's XI match against New Zealand in Canberra.

Kiwi Katie Perkins was at the crease when she drove a shot straight at the bat of her teammate, Katey Martin.

Martin had begun walking down the wicket when it unfolded, leaving her little time to get out of the way.

Martin attempted to move but was caught in the wrong position. The ball hit her bat and popped up straight into the hands of bowler Heather Graham for one of the easiest catches she'll ever take.

The Governor General's XI fielders were laughing in disbelief, waiting for confirmation that it was indeed out.

"This looks like it could be an absolute miracle," Fox Sports commentator Mel Jones said.

"Have you ever seen anything like this?"

Martin was asked immediately after the wicket if she had ever been involved in a bizarre dismissal like that before.

"Never, but I'm a bit unco [sic]," she said jokingly.

New Zealand went on to win the friendly match by 166 runs at Drummoyne Oval.
