A tight Nathan Coulter-Nile bowling display has helped the Delhi Daredevils to a seven-wicket victory over David Warner's Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.

After being sent in to bat by Delhi, Warner got Hyderabad off to a flying start, smashing 46 off 30 with six fours and a six before he was bowled by Jayant Yadav.

Moises Henriques came in at No. 4 for the Sunrisers, but his time at the crease was short-lived after a late-swinging Mohammed Shami delivery saw him out LBW for a golden duck.

West Australian Coulter-Nile kept it tight with the ball for Delhi, picking up 2-25 from his four overs in just his second match of the season.

"I was a little bit off with my rhythm but I thought the intensity was quite good," Coulter-Nile said.

"If you're not taking wickets you've got to try to restrict their flow, restrict their rhythm and I thought we did that quite well today."

Coulter-Nile claimed his first wicket in bizarre circumstances after Deepak Hooda set off for a single and his back foot slid onto the stumps.

His second wicket came on the second-last ball of the innings when Naman Ojha swatted a full toss straight to deep square leg.

"Not how I would've like to get them but I'll take them any way they come at this stage," Coulter-Nile said.

Set 147 for victory, South African Quinton de Kock got Delhi off to a strong start before Henriques (2-19 off three overs) dismissed him thanks a dubious caught behind decision.

The Daredevils were guided home by 18-year-old Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson to end Hyderabad's four-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Warner's side still tops the IPL table on net run rate.
