Brad Hogg bowls David Miller but doesn't get wicket

Powered by

We all know Brad Hogg is a happy-go-lucky character, and it’s just as well because he was on the wrong end of some incredible misfortune in the IPL overnight.

The Kolkata Knight Riders chinaman was bowling against the Kings XI Punjab when he managed to beat left-hander David Miller with his famous googly as the big-hitting South African shuffled too far across the crease.

Footage shows the Daredevils appeal for a caught behind after wicketkeeper Robin Uthappa clung on to the deflection down the leg-side.

Replays showed that the umpire correctly turned down the appeal, with the noise caused by the ball crashing into the top of the leg stump, rather than Miller’s bat as the Daredevils had suspected.

Only a particularly stubborn bail stopped Miller from hearing the death rattle and Hogg from claiming another scalp.

The 45-year-old Australian had the last laugh though, with the Knight Riders triumphing by seven runs despite a blistering 68 off 42 balls from Punjab’s Australian Glenn Maxwell.
