Bollywood star says Kohli 'world's worst behaved player'

One of India’s biggest Bollywood stars has taken aim at Virat Kohlil, describing the India captain as “the world’s worst behaved player”.

India movie star star Naseeruddin Shah caused a bit of a storm when posted the comments on his Facebook page after Kohli’s much publicised on field clash with Australian skipper Tim Paine and what has been perceived as his over the top celebrations.

Shah wrote: “Virat K is not only the world’s best batsman but also the world’s worst behaved player,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

“His cricketing brilliance pales beside his arrogance and bad manners... And I have no intention of leaving the country by the way.”

Kohli has always been an easy target for opposition teams because of his fiery demeanour on the field and the India skipper didn’t hold back in Perth with stump mics picking several exchanges between himself and Tim Paine.

Kohli labelled Paine “a stand-in captain” while describing himself as “the best player in the world” in one particular clash.

Paine also threw a few jabs towards his contemporary, most notably when he told India star Murali Vijay: “You can’t seriously like him as a bloke”.

Despite being criticised by Shah for his behaviour on the pitch, former Australian captain Allan Border came in to bat for Kohli, saying cricket needs more characters.

“There’s not many characters in our game at the moment. The professional era has sort of beaten that out to a certain degree,” Border said on Fox Cricket podcast The Follow-on.

“I haven’t seen anyone sort of carry on so much as a captain when his side takes a wicket.

“It’s really over the top but it’s good in a way. You can see some passion about what he’s trying to do.”
