Bird frustrated at Test omission

Tasmania pace bowler Jackson Bird is frustrated at being left out of the Australian Test cricket squad this summer.

Despite the retirement of Mitchell Johnson and the injury to Mitchell Starc, Bird - who has taken 18 Sheffield Shield wickets at an average of 24.5 this season - hasn't been included in any of Australia's 13-man squads against New Zealand or the West Indies.

"It is frustrating a little bit," he said. "It's something that I would love to do again, but you can't control what happens."

Bird made his Test debut in the Boxing Day Test against Sri Lanka in 2012 but only played two more matches for Australia the following year before spending time on the sidelines due to back and neck injuries.
