Big Bash run out features slide gone horribly wrong

Maybe George Bailey should have ignored the one piece of advice every young player is given - slide your bat when running between wickets.

Bailey did just that in the Big Bash League match between his Hobart Hurricanes and the Brisbane Heat on Friday night and paid the ultimate price when he bat got stuck in the ground short of the crease.

Bailey initially looked as though he was going to make his ground comfortably, and the Heat keeper's decision to remove the bails appeared unnecessary.

That was until Bailey's woe became apparent.

For an Ashes-winning player like Bailey, such a method of dismissal is something he will one be to able to look back and and smile.

But don't for a minute think that day is today.
