'Magnificent': Strikers skipper Matt Short rewrites club history in impressive feat against Brisbane Heat
A history-making innings for the Adelaide Strikers was engineered by captain Matt Short as smashed the club's fastest century in a 56-run win against the Brisbane Heat.
Short was absent from the Strikers' past three matches due to a broken toe but made the most of his time back in the middle as he belted 109 off just 54 balls.
The effort by the skipper broke Travis Head's record, with seven sixes and 10 fours.

Short's partnership with Chris Lynn set the tone for the match as the pair reached 62 runs at the end of the fourth over, and brought up the 100 in just the seventh over. He brought up his century in the 15th over.
"That will bring up simply, a magnificent century for the captain," Adam Gilchrist said in commentary on Fox Cricket.
"It's his second in Big Bash cricket. He's always there when his team needs him."

Lynn, who later failed to take the field for the run chase due to hamstring tightness, made 47 off 20. Alex Ross chipped in with 44 off just 19 as the Strikers set the Heat a frightening 252 for victory.
Heat captain Colin Munro was also added to the list of players in the competition under an injury cloud, having injured his shoulder when attempted to make a catch.
Jack Wood and Michael Neser could not match the early momentum of their Strikers counterparts as they began the Heat's chase.
Neser was caught for 18 off 8 balls by Alex Ross, while Wood fell shortly after to an lbw.
Already struggling, the Heat lost 6-12 in the space of 19 balls to ultimately kill the chase.
