The Australian Cricketers’ Association has rubbished claims from the game’s governing body that they want to run the game.
As the bitter pay dispute labours on, the players’ union recognised Cricket Australia as the ‘’administrator’’ of the game and merely wanted a seat at the table.
ACA boss Alistair Nicholson said the players had not changed from their stance of wanting improved consultation.
"One of the frustrations of this negotiation has been the misapprehension or perhaps mischaracterisation that players want to be administrators,’’ he said.
"It’s just not true. The players want to play. But it’s also true they have a voice and its right they are heard.
"To be consulted, yes. To be managers, absolutely not. We have conveyed this message ad nauseum to CA. It seems to be a truth inconvenient to pre conceptions about the players and the ACA.
"And its clearly been a major stumbling block to progress over the last year.’’
After Cricket Australia boss James Sutherland on Thursday said his organisation would seek industrial arbitration is a resolution was not by the middle of this week, Nicholson reminded the game’s governing body that the players were as united as ever.

"The instructions from the players to the ACA could not be clearer: we want to play the game we love and we want a fair deal for men, for women and for grass roots cricket,’’ he said. |
