Champion Australian cricketer Megan Schutt has copped a two-match suspension because of an incident involving prescription medication.
“The breach was a failure to adhere to requirements under the Sports Science and Sports Medicine guidelines with regard to prescription medication,” Cricket Australia said in a statement.

“This relates to a single incidence which occurred while out of competition and was not for performance-enhancing purposes.”
Nine.com.au can confirm the two-game suspension applies to Thursday night’s T20 against New Zealand at North Sydney Oval, as well as the Adelaide Strikers′ first match of the 2026-27 WBBL season against the Melbourne Stars on October 31.
“I fully accept the penalty handed down and apologise for failing to meet the standards expected of me,” Schutt said in a statement.
“I’m sorry for the attention this has caused and appreciate the support I’ve received.
“While this occurred out of competition and was not performance-related, I understand that I am responsible for following the Sports Science and Sports Medicine guidelines, which players receive regular education on, and I should have adhered to these guidelines.”
Schutt, a T20 and 50-over World Cup winner, is part of the squad currently facing New Zealand in a T20 series on Australian soil, although she has not played a game.
Schutt, 33, last played against Bangladesh in a one-dayer in Brisbane on October 14.
The pace bowler took 4-16 to claim player of the match.
She also won player of the series, having taken 10 wickets across three ODIs against Bangladesh.
“We will continue to provide appropriate support to Megan and reinforce the standards and responsibilities expected of everyone representing our game,” the Cricket Australia statement said.
