Aussie T20 women want more batting intent
Australia's women's cricketers believe greater intent with the bat holds the key to sealing a Twenty20 series win against New Zealand on Wednesday.
The three-game series is locked at one-all entering the Adelaide Oval encounter, with Australia winning the first match by 40 runs then losing on Sunday in Geelong by eight runs in a rain-marred fixture.
"That was a disappointing loss in Geelong in some pretty terrible weather," Australian quick Megan Schutt told reporters on Tuesday.
Schutt forecast more Australia impetus with the bat in the early overs on Wednesday.
"Just show a little bit more intent in the first few overs, I think the power play was what let us down last game," she said.
"Obviously there were still a lot of positives to come out of it but it's always a close game against the Kiwis so hopefully we can just do the little things right."
Schutt said she was relishing being the only pace bowler selected in an Australian side featuring four spinners.
"We're bowling OK at the moment and we just need to keep doing what we're doing," she said.
"I feel like I'm a real fast bowler now. It's obviously an honour to be the only pace bowler picked, but it's probably a good pressure to have on my shoulders."
