Ashes hopeful Will Pucovski's concussion issues have reappeared, with reports today that the young Victorian is suffering late onset symptoms after an incident at training last week.

First reported by The Australian, Cricket Victoria confirmed that an incident had occurred last Tuesday.

Puvocski was reportedly struck while in the nets, but no symptoms were immediately obvious, and he first felt the effects the following day. It's estimated he's suffered as many as 10 concussions in his young career.

"Will is currently managing his recovery in consultation with CV's medical staff. He looks forward to returning to training as soon as he is able to do so," a statement from Cricket Victoria read.

It's another awful setback for Pucovski, whose presence in the Test team at the start of 2021 was brief. He picked up a shoulder injury while fielding in his only Test appearance at the SCG.

The 23-year-old has sparkled at state level, scoring 1816 runs in just 38 innings, with an average of 53.41.

He first caught mainstream attention towards the end of 2020, when he posted two double centuries for Victoria within a fortnight.

Pucovski was the front-runner to partner David Warner at the top of the batting order when the Ashes begin in December, but this setback opens the door for others, including Marcus Harris, to enter the frame.
