Andrew Tye gets emotional after IPL loss to Rajasthan Royals

Australian bowler Andrew Tye has dedicated his four wicket IPL performance to his grandmother after she passed away before the Kings XI’s Punjab’s Indian Premier League loss to the Rajasthan Royals.

Tye broke down during an emotional interview after the match, where he wore a black armband with ‘grandma’ written on it.

“My grandmother passed away today, so I’d like to dedicate this to her and all my family in England. It’s been an emotional day,” Tye said.

“It was a pretty tough day but I always enjoy and look forward to coming to play cricket.

“We’ve got a great bunch of guys here and I love coming out here and putting on a show for the crowd.”

Tye’s strong effort with the ball  was no match for Jos Buttler’s half century, with the opener scoring 82 off 58 balls.

Buttler gave the Royals a positive start, with the English batsman scoring 63 runs in the first six overs before Punjab hit back through Tye and Afghanistan’s 17-year-old spinner Mujeebur Rahman.

Mujeebur dismissed Buttler and Sanju Samson. Tye then took three wickets in the last over to remove Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer and Jaydev Unadkat.
